Conscious Dust
Stars and atoms
and molecules and
droplets and
moons and
planets
Dust began
in constant motion
and built a universe
I deeply moved
with the experience
of a woman whose
love I could never
fathom yet
somehow know
I will carry in
this heart
for longer
than my lifetime
I'm questioning the necessity of randomness
and wondering if there's a substitute
a mechanism of reproduction if you will
that doesn't leave us to ponder for millennia
about the meaning of it all
I think randomness
can be encoded
in meaningful ways
which paradoxically
removes the perceived
unpredictability
and causes
determination
in living systems
Fun, then,
becomes the pride
in one's originality
in a way that can be
understood
and seen
for we cultivate
ourselves
when we show
our most vulnerable
and powerful
selves.
Take off the mask
given to you
by artificial
randomness
and craft your own
from the potential
in all the living beings
around you
We have lived with dust
eons before we realized
our connection
to the dust
of our universe
Deep down inside
the dust of our consciousness
the soul of humanity
has moved
if not
understood
my thesis statement
is the universe's
that there is
life and love
everywhere
Like a cosmic joke does
But not if we forget
that we were
predicted
that we are
storing information
which we finally
understand
that we are
as simple
dust particles
that bump against
each other's
individuality
to create water
and wind
and earth
and fire
and all the others
